Interventions
While my therapeutic approach encompasses a range of interventions tailored to meet individual needs, the following list highlights those we are likely to use most heavily and frequently
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
CBT is based in the understanding that our thoughts (often automatic) about a situation influence our emotions and ultimately our actions. Working to disrupt maladaptive, negative or distorted thought patterns can therefore influence both how we feel about a situation and how we respond to it.
Mindfulness
Mindfulness is an intervention that encourages individuals to be present in the current moment. Mindfulness can provide increased acceptance and increased ability to manage negative thoughts and emotions.
Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT)
Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) is an intervention rooted in attachment theory that focuses on helping individuals explore and understand their emotional experiences within the context of their relationships. Through guided exploration and intervention, EFIT aims to promote emotional regulation, enhance interpersonal functioning, and foster deeper self-awareness and relational satisfaction.
Anxiety Treatment (neuroplasticity and rewiring)
Anxiety, viewed through the lens of neuroplasticity, reflects the brain's remarkable ability to adapt and change in response to environmental and internal stimuli. Chronic anxiety can lead to neural pathways becoming entrenched in patterns of fear and worry, but through targeted interventions and practices such as mindfulness and cognitive-behavioral therapy, the brain can rewire itself, fostering resilience and reducing anxiety over time.
